Delete your account

You can remove your Kilig account and the data attached to it. You do not need the app installed, and you do not need to explain why.

How it works

  1. Enter your email address below, or open Settings → Delete account in the app.
  2. Type the six-digit code we email you, so we know the request is really yours.
  3. Type DELETE to confirm, on a screen that restates exactly what is removed.
  4. Your profile disappears from everyone else immediately, and every session is signed out.
  5. After 14 days the data below is permanently purged, automatically.

The 14-day window

Your account is invisible to other members from the moment you confirm. For 14 days after that you can still stop it: come back to this page, or open the app, and choose Keep my account. Nothing is deleted until the 14 days are up.

Simply signing in again is not enough — cancelling is a deliberate choice you have to make. That is on purpose. If someone pressured you into deleting your account, getting you to open the app should not quietly undo the decision you made.

This window exists for a specific reason. On a dating app, account deletion is sometimes done impulsively after a bad interaction, or under pressure from an abusive partner. A reversible window is a safety feature, not a retention tactic. If you would rather not have it, delete immediately is offered as an option and skips the wait.

What is permanently deleted

  • Your profile, photos, and the stored image files themselves
  • Your private details — legal name, date of birth, precise location
  • Interests, saved searches, search history, notification preferences
  • Any conversations you had with the in-app help assistant
  • Your messages, removed from every surface any member can see. Where an open report names your account, the reported content is held in a restricted moderation store for 90 days and then purged. If there is no report, there is no retention.

What is kept, and why

These are the honest exceptions. Each is kept for a reason that would apply to you as much as to anyone else.

  • Security audit records. Kept for accountability under data-protection law. After purge, the actor is an identifier with no person attached to it.
  • Payment records. Financial records we are legally required to retain for a fixed period.
  • An enforcement record, if your account was banned. Without it, a banned account can be deleted and immediately re-created.
  • A one-way scrambled form of your phone number and verification reference. This cannot be turned back into your number. It exists only so that an account banned for abusing someone cannot return under a new name, and so that people who blocked you stay protected if you re-register.
  • A record that you asked to be deleted, so we can show the request was honoured.

Deleting does not cancel your subscription

If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, only the store can cancel it. Deleting your Kilig account will not stop the charges. Cancel first, then delete.
